Dalhousie is known as the gateway to the Chamba Valley. It was named after Lord Dalhousie, the then Viceroy of India, who established this town in 1854. Satdhara 'Satdhara' or seven springs situated on the way to Panjpulla are reputed to have medicinal properties as its water contains 'mica', known as 'Gandhak' in the local language.
